Soneto I
Sonnet I
Sonhando em minha torre no ar
Dreaming from my tower in the air
Maior do que as árvores que cercam
Higher than the trees surrounding close
Querendo saber se os homens me acham bela,
Wondering if men would find me fair,
Passos lá embaixo atrapalham meu repouso
Footsteps down below break my repose
A névoa sobre a minha janela me impede
The mist about my window hinders me
De ver quem entra no meu tribunal
From viewing who would enter in my court
Mas vejo tão poucos visitantes
But so few visitors I chance to see,
Estou intenção em fazer meu relatório
Intent I am on making my report
E afinando minha doce canção para a terra,
And tuning my sweet song towards the earth,
Eu vou mudar o meu destino, que me deixou aqui desde o nascimento.
I'll change my fate, which left me here since birth.

Soneto II
Sonnet II
Seis notas só tinha que me soou quando
Six notes only had I sounded when
Os passos se aproximaram meu muro da prisão
The footsteps came nearer my prison wall
Eu tremia, mas pareceu-los novamente
Trembled I, yet sounded them again
E pelo que parecia ser a cova de terra, ouviu chamar
And from what seemed the pit of earth heard call
Uma voz muito diferentes daqueles que eu tinha ouvido falar
A voice quite different from those I had heard
Embora eu poderia contar que o número de um lado
Though I could count that number on one hand
Meus lábios muito seco de falar uma única palavra,
My lips too dry to speak a single word,
Eu me perguntava porque eu não tinha planejado melhor
I wondered why I had not better planned
E tentou em vão dar um passo atrás da soleira
And tried in vain to step back from the sill
Para realizar algo meu cabelo e me manteve imóvel.
For something held my hair and kept me still.

Soneto III
Sonnet III
Tentei a gritar mas o som eu não poderia fazer
I tried to scream but sound I could not make
Meu humor tinha medo me roubou da minha intervenção
My frightened wit had robbed me of my speech
Pensei em como minha tranças eu poderia quebrar,
I thought of how my tresses I might break,
Mas viu a tesoura um pouco além do meu alcance
But spied the scissors just beyond my reach
Freneticamente me atrapalhou na minha saia,
Frantically I fumbled through my skirts,
Procurando meu punhal na dobra
Searching for my dagger in the fold
O mesmo que usei para rasgar camisas de linho
The same I used for tearing linen shirts
E como eu não sabia o que tinha de me segurar,
And as I knew not what of me had hold,
A sacrificar o meu tranças eu levantei minha faca
To sacrifice my braids I raised my knife
Tarde demais! Agora tem que matar para salvar a minha vida.
Too late! I now must kill to save my life.

Soneto IV
Sonnet IV
Meu ponto dirigida ao estranho queixo,
My point directed at the stranger's chin,
Sem tempo foi deixado para romper a corda
No time was left for severing his rope
Mas será que o assassinato dele ou deixá-lo entrar?
But shall I murder him or let him in?
Fiquei muito chocado com o que vi a esperança
I was too stunned at what I saw to hope
Para alguns a salvação. Eu sabia que estava perdido
For some salvation. I knew I was lost
Seja qual foi a minha escolha não se importava
Whichever was my choice it mattered not
O nevoeiro tinha desaparecido, a minha inocência, o custo
The mist had cleared, my innocence the cost
E por um momento sem fim Eu era forjado
And for one endless moment I was wrought
Carne de humanos e de preocupações e medos
Of human flesh and human cares and fears
A fantasia das fábulas de ler por anos.
The fantasy of fables read for years.

Soneto V
Sonnet V
Um cara que foi, sim, que tinha os lábios e os olhos,
A face it was, yea, had it lips and eyes,
Mas ao contrário do que me cumprimenta no vidro
But unlike that which greets me in the glass
Na sua orbs gêmeo menos eu não vi nenhuma surpresa
In its twin orbs I saw no less surprise
E assim ficamos, duas estátuas feitas de bronze
And so we stood, two statues made of brass
Eu olhando nos olhos dele e ele na minha
I gazing in his eyes and he in mine
Como se pudéssemos ter lido um do outro pensamento
As though we might have read each other's thought
ela sorriu lentamente como um embriagueis com vinho
sHe smiled slowly as one drunk with wine
Quando de repente a floresta tocou com tiros
When suddenly the forest rang with shots
O oft caçadores antes havia chegado perto demais,
The hunters oft' before had come too near,
E assim eu despedir de todo o meu medo.
And so I bid adieu to all my fear.

Soneto VI
Sonnet VI
Mal sabendo a metade do que eu fiz
Hardly knowing half of what I did
Mas bem consciente metade do que eu sabia era louco,
But well aware the half I knew was mad,
Segurei seus braços como uma virtude que pode proibir
I grasped his arms as virtue may forbid
E puxou a criatura com a força que eu tinha
And pulled the creature with what strength I had
Para a câmara. Para nós caímos no chão,
Into the chamber. To the floor we fell,
Então eu mexidos para recuperar o meu punhal
Then scrambled I to my poniard retrieve
E perguntou-lhe agora, na terceira porta da morte para contar
And asked him now, at death's third door to tell
Por cam'st ele daqui, e ordenou-lhe que não enganam
Why cam'st he hence, and bade him not deceive
Porque, se ele deve ser falso, apesar de sua beleza,
For if he should be false, despite his beauty,
Apesar de eu ser enganado, meu punhal sabia o seu dever.
Though I be fooled, my dagger knew its duty.

Soneto VII
Sonnet VII
Seus lábios se mudou, mas não um som foi ouvido
His lips then moved but not a sound was heard
Vi-os como duas pétalas de uma rosa
I saw them as two petals from a rose
Quando finalmente ele estava apto a dizer uma palavra,
When finally he was fit to say a word,
Eu pensei que estava a examinar o nariz
I was content examining his nose
Ele fez alguma menção de uma melodia de ave
He made some mention of a songbird's tune
Eu não estava escutando, mas o'erlooked testa
I was not listening but o'erlooked his brow
Ele alegou que ele teria subido para a lua
He claimed he would have climbed up to the moon
Eu queria dar-lhe a paz, mas não sabia como
I wished to give him peace but knew not how
Ele não tinha pensado sua corda de cabelo de uma donzela
He had not thought his rope a maiden's hair
Após a minha vida, eu encontrei a criatura é justo!
Upon my life, I found the creature fair!

Soneto VIII
Sonnet VIII
A escritura explicou, ele pediu-me o meu nome
The deed explained, he begged of me my name
"Rapunzel", respondi. "A tu és homem?"
"Rapunzel" I replied. "A man thou art?"
"Eu sou" a criatura riu: "O mesmo
"I am" the creature laughed, "The very same
Como tu tens tempo foi mantido distante da vida? "
How long hast thou been kept from life apart?"
Contei-lhe como, por vinte e um anos,
I told him how, for one and twenty years,
Minha casa tinha sido ele viu as paredes em volta de mim
My home had been the walls he saw around me
Como nenhum tipo de contestação, nem lágrimas
How no amount of pleading, nor no tears
Ganharam um visitante até que me encontrou
Have gained a visitor until he found me
Mas quando penso nele me lembro,
But when I think upon it I recall,
Para olhar, ele não me ouve em tudo.
For staring, he did not hear me at all.

Soneto IX
Sonnet IX
Pareceu-me que nós podemos também não falam
It seemed to me we may as well not speak
Seus olhos tinham ido tão nublado como o dia
His eyes had gone as cloudy as the day
Ele perguntou se ele poderia entrar novamente nessa semana
He asked if he might come again that week
E eu sabia que ele deveria ter ido mais longe
And I knew he must soon be gone away
Ele pegou minha mão e apertou-los em seus próprios
He took my hands and pressed them in his own
Como se, ao fazer isso ele deveria ficar mais tempo
As if by doing so he should stay longer
Ele disse-me do mundo que eu poderia ter conhecido,
He told me of the world I might have known,
Prometendo voltar e matar a minha sobrando
Vowing to return and slay my wronger

Then promising no harm, his head he bent

Sonnet X
Abaixando-se como ele tinha vindo,
Lowering himself as he had come,
Através da neblina minha criatura desapareceu,
Through the mist my creature disappeared,
Andar para trás tudo o que ele era de
Riding back to all that he was from
E tudo que eu nunca poderia ser eu temia
And all that I could never be I feared
E ainda que bloqueia corvo caiu em torno de seu rosto
And yet what raven locks fell round his face
Que olhos doces, cinzenta como asas de gaivotas
What gentle eyes as gray as seagulls wings
Uma voz tão suave minhas palavras não podem substituir
A voice so soft my words cannot replace
A memória de um mil coisas encantadoras
The memory of a thousand lovely things
E assim eu vou sonhar novamente de armas mais doce
And so I'll dream again of arms more sweet
O punhal que eu tinha deixado cair está a meus pés.
The dagger I had dropped lies at my feet.
