To Lead Astray

What a joy
This lovely youth
Spring of wonders
Delight
Rays of sun and
Foliage and colors, glowing bright

An animal approaching
A creature ready to perform
His dance macabre
Cut the budding life short

Nearing the cabin
In the green heart of his home
What the eye does not see
Does not harm the soul

A swift act of slicing
With filthy animal claws
Then a crude mimickry
Enough to lead astray one so naive
