Down in Louisiana back in the big bayou
There are paths that you don't cross
Places you don't go
So many have been lost there

Down in St. John Parish
on the banks of Lake Pontchartrain
There are things you're not meant to hear
Things you're not meant to say
When the panther screams at midnight
Stop and say a little prayer
When the drums pound in the distance
Every step you better beware
