The Staircase

...awoken from my slumber, it is hauntingly cold.
I light a candle to find the windows are closed.
...a strange presence is felt in my room;
an answer to my question will be found soon.

The clock strikes three; I feel something's wrong.
...am I still dreaming? 'Tis not quite dawn.
...approaching the stairwell, mist starts to form;
a figure then appears starring for lorn

Ghastly a sight in torn robes;
a vision I see only alone.
...her hand, it rises, and points to me.
I only stand and stare helplessly.
Why can I not move away
from this spiral stone staircase,
with the apparition which leads me astray?
a feeling I cannot explain, a felling so displaced
